Agapé Language Centre has an agreement with Citizenship and Immigration Canada to provide high quality language instruction for newcomers (permanent residents and refugees) who have come to Calgary. The ESL program helps adult immigrants improve their overall English proficiency levels. Weekly themes and practical subjects, which are directly related to daily living and employability skills, help ESL participants to adapt and integrate smoothly into Canadian society.
Several levels of classes are offered: pre-basic, basic, and intermediate. This program is ideal for those who have to attend classes around family needs or work schedules, or for those who are not eligible for LINC classes. More ...
Throughout the year, Agapé Language Centre offers classes to strengthen your English skills while you are engaged in real life tasks. Some examples of these are Conversation, Computers or Cooking classes. These classes are not always available, so please contact our office to find out when these classes are offered.
Guest speakers are also an important part of the student learning experience. The speaker’s primarily goal is to help students become more familiar with Canadian culture. Some of the guests include representatives from the Calgary Police Department, Calgary Immigrant Women's Association, Calgary Workers' Resource Centre, Alberta Health department, Fire Department and Calgary Emergency Services.
Events are part of the learning experience that students have come to expect when attending Agapé Language Centre. The events are planned primarily to help students become more familiar with Canadian culture. Some of our past events were a school wide Remembrance Day Ceremony, Pumpkin Carving, Canadian Christmas Potluck, Teddy Bear Picnic, and the Calgary Stampede.
